Interface Science -
Adsorption and Desorption Kinetics
|
General Objective:
The main goal of our research group is to investigate fundamental
processes taking place during the interaction
of inorganic or organic molecules with metal surfaces. The understanding
of these processes is of vital importance for nearly all of the phenomena
in the context of nanotechnology and nanoscience: Thin film
growth, self assembly, selective sensors, nanostructuring, etc.
When it comes to structures on the nanometer
scale, surface properties become more and more important compared with bulk
properties. New experimental techniques have to be applied to characterize
the geometric, electronic and chemical behavior of surfaces. A number of
state-of-the-art instrumentation is available in our surface science group
to tackle the raised problems.
